Is it commom for guys to tell their girlfriend about their ex-girlfriends?

I had a boyfriend once who told me in some detail about all the problems with each of his ex-girlfriends. I asked so he told me all about it. I am no longer with him. I am just curious why he just went ahead and told me when he could have said that was private. Now he's probably going to tell his future dates or girlfriend about what was so wrong with me.

This wasn't true, it would have been different if you hadn't asked, he probably wouldn't have mentioned it at all. What would have been unusual if he randomly, out of the blue talked about his exes which would be a stupid thing to do considering what gf wants to here about their bf's exes.
Just don't let it get to you because he can talk bad about you whenever he wants, but why should you care? You're no longer with him and you can find other guys to move on with.
