Since you really don't own anything together, that makes it much easier. Do you have a joint checking account or do you maintain separate accounts? That sounds like it may be the only pain you have by separating…if your money is pooled together in a joint account. If so, hire a lawyer and start the proceedings. If not, hell you can both just go up to the courthouse and sign it away basically (if you both agree that's what you want and aren't contesting anything). As long as neither of you are contesting anything, it's very simple. If there is a dispute about anything in the divorce, hire an attorney for sure.
