What does it mean when your ex boyfriend texts you this message?

My ex boyfriend and i are no longer in our relationship for 10 wks now, but monday after noon, he text me by saying: i sent the last message by mistake sorry. I meant to dial my number…
I never got any message from him in the first place, could it be possible that he accidently did make a mistake? Help??

no because texting is way different from dialing a number, maybe he wanted to contact you and used that as an excuse
